Class Descriptions:
Gregory Gardens afterschool enrichment programs are growing! The PTA is proud to offer after school programs. The programs we are currently planning to offer are a combination of parent and teacher volunteers running after school programs and outside organizations offering to provide opportunities on campus for our children for a fee. If you yourself have thoughts on a program, want to run one or know an outside source that could come in to teach for a reasonable fee, please let us know at ggptainfo@gmail.com
  • Village Music School - Village Music is offering piano and guitar lessons (private and small group). Singing classes are also offered in a fun group environment. Children are introduced to basic vocal techniques while singing along to Disney songs or classic pop songs.
  • Young Rembrandt's Art program - Young Rembrandts' outstanding curriculum, step-by-step process, and talented instructors allow all children to produce great works of art.
Each new lesson incorporates art vocabulary, while introducing a variety of subject matter and art technique. Drawing is proven to increase several core learning and behavioral skills, so your child will be given an academic advantage. Learning to draw with Young Rembrandts provides each student the joy of artistic achievement, while drawing exciting subjects. This is a fun, engaging class that your child won't want to miss! No previous art background is required.
  • Academy of Future Space Explorers: Mad Science and NASA have teamed up to bring you the excitement and wonder of space in the NASA Academy of Future Space Explorers After-School Program! The Academy of Future Space Explorers takes children on a voyage of discovery. Topics Include: Planets and Moons; Atmosphere & Beyond; Space Phenomena; Sun & Stars; Rocket Science; Space Travel; Space Technology and Living in Space. In every class, children build a fun and educational take-home to fuel their future explorations!
  • FUNKMODE Hip Hop and Theater - Kids have fun, get exercise and learn a routine with the fun Hip Hop dance program. Funkmode is also offering a theater program, that builds confidence, self esteem, assertiveness and imagation. There are Costumes, sets, and a speaking role for every child.
  • Bricks for Kids - Our program provide an extraordinary atmosphere for students to build unique creations, play games, and have loads of fun using LEGO® bricks. The activities are designed to trigger young children’s lively imaginations and build their self-confidence. Children work with exciting themes such as machines, outer space and mosaics. So many things we use each day are someone’s invention. Introduce your student to the world of ideas, creativity, inventions and patents. We will construct different familiar objects each week such as a hand mixer, windshield wipers and a conveyor belt. Each model is motorized for maximum movement and fascination! Start creating!
  • Tiny Techs Club Computer Detectives at Gregory Gardens. Let your child discover places such as Laptop Lagoon, Email Trail, Satellite City, Digit Desert amd more!  Imagine Tomorrow provides an enriching and exciting experience for your children to learn technology through a fun and safe learning adventure.  Each lesson contains tons of learning all creatively incorporated into Imagine Tomorrow's custom-designed software that automatically adjusts to each child's level.  Children work on their own laptops (provided by Tiny Techs Club) for a 45 minute lesson that that includes introductory typing , math and language skills, pattern recognition and problem solving.  Advanced students are also given an opportunity to learn the basic concepts of Microsoft Word.
  • Homework club (grades 2-5) taught by Gregory Gardens staff.  This is an opportunity to have your child do homework in a calm, peaceful, quiet setting for 45 minutes per session twice a week with a certificated teacher and a reading assistant.  Your student will get help with reading homework, help with basic concepts and will be required to work the entire session on homework that he/she brings to the Homework Club.  He/she must also bring a free choice, appropriate level reading book to read when homework is finished. This will be logged onto their Reading Log.
  • Typing club (grades 1-5) taught by Gregory Gardens staff.  Your child will have the opportunity to learn typing through typing games and programs in our school computer lab.  Each class is 1 hour and 45 minutes long.
